Common Questions About Breast Lift with Implants
If you desire larger, fuller, perkier breasts, consider combining breast lift surgery with implants. Here, leading Miami breast surgeon Dr. Ary Krau answers the most commonly asked questions regarding the combination procedure.
Am I a Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?
You may be a candidate for breast lift surgery if your breasts sag, and your nipples hang below the natural breast fold or point toward the ground. Many women seek breast lift once the breasts start to sag due to pregnancy, nursing, weight loss or aging. A breast lift can raise your breasts higher on the chest wall, for a perkier, natural-looking effect. If you decide to undergo breast lift surgery, you should be in good physical and mental health and not smoke.
How Do I Know if I Need Breast Implants?
While a breast lift can make your breasts perkier, they may still retain a natural teardrop shape, with the bottom half of your breast looking fuller than the top. Implants can further enhance your appearance by adding fullness to the upper part of your breasts, and adding cleavage.
Why Should I Combine the Procedures?
A procedure that combines breast lift with implants has many benefits. Your breasts can look both younger and fuller at the same time, adding to a sexier, more beautiful physique. A combination procedure also means you only undergo surgery once, and avoid additional visits to your plastic surgeon’s office. Your body heals all at once from the two procedures, allowing you to enjoy the comprehensive results you desire faster.
What Is the Surgery Like?
Dr. Ary Krau will first lift the breasts by making surgical incisions around the nipple and areola and vertically down to the crease of the breast. He will then reshape the breast tissue higher on the chest, reposition the nipple and areola higher on the breast and remove excess skin. Next, Dr. Krau will place either saline or silicone implants before closing the incisions with sutures. The combination procedure takes about an hour and 15 minutes.
What Is Recovery Like?
Following your surgery, you will rest in our recovery suite until the anesthesia wears off. You will then be able to return to the comfort of your home. Dr. Krau will meet and follow up with you within 24 hours following surgery and several times during the recovery period. He will remove any non-dissolvable sutures and monitor your healing process. You may experience bruising, swelling and tenderness in the breasts for the first few days. Most patients are able to return to light activities within seven to 10 days after surgery; however, Dr. Krau will determine when you can return to your regular routine based on your healing process.
What Are the Procedure Risks?
Complications are rare but possible. Implant complications include bleeding, infection and poor wound healing. Dr. Krau is proud to have a low rate of surgery complications and a high rate of patient satisfaction. During your pre-op one-on-one consultation, Dr. Krau will review possible risks and complications with you. He will also discuss with you how he carefully handles any complications.
What Is the Cost of a Combination Procedure?
While a combination procedure does cost more than a single procedure, you may find that you can get a higher value for your money. A combination procedure starts at $6,500. The cost for breast augmentation starts at only $4,500, and the cost for breast lift starts at $5,000. As an added benefit to the combination procedure, you only have to pay the facility and anesthesia fees once.
