How to Dress After Your Breast Augmentation Surgery
One of the motivators women have for pursuing breast augmentation surgery is to finally be able to wear the clothes they have always wanted but perhaps lacked the confidence to wear. Small, deflated breasts can prevent women from wearing a sexy bikini or a dress with revealing neckline. With fuller, perkier breasts, it is much more enjoyable to shop for clothes that flatter and accentuate the bust line.
Here, Miami breast lift and augmentation surgeon Dr. Ary Krau offers a few wardrobe tips to keep in mind after your surgery.
Immediately After Your Surgery
Following breast enhancement surgery, it’s normal to be excited about wearing your new bras and clothes right away. However, you won’t be able to wear them just yet. Instead, you will be required to wear a supportive surgical bra for the first few weeks after surgery. This is to reduce post-operative swelling and promote faster healing. Do not wear your new bras until Dr. Krau gives you clearance to do so.
It is also important to remember that following your procedure, you will need to rest your body and avoid strenuous movement. This includes raising your arms above your head. To avoid injuring yourself, it is wise to wear loose fitting shirts, preferably with buttons or zippers that are easy to put on and take off.
Once You’re Fully Recovered
Now that you have the fuller, perkier breasts that you have always wanted, you will need a sturdier bra that offers more support. Dr. Krau recommends visiting a department or lingerie store to get professionally measured. Once you know your bra size, be sure to try on bras with different styles to see which one suits your curvier shape best.
For a typical day or night out on the town, try V-neck shirts and blouses that accentuate your breasts and elongate your body. If you prefer tank tops, make sure they have thicker and stronger straps to support your fuller, heavier breasts.
For the office, a jacket with a single button placed strategically below the chest can look professional while still flattering your chest. Blouses with a modest neckline, such as those with a cowl neck, are also attractive and work-appropriate.
For swimsuit season (which let’s face it, is almost year round here in Miami), you may want to consider wearing a larger size on top than bottom. Shop for two-piece bikinis that are sold separately, so you can purchase a different size top and bottom, if necessary.
