What You Should Know Before Getting a Breast Lift
Are you considering breast lift surgery? Take the time to educate yourself on what to expect from the procedure and recovery. Here, Miami breast lift surgeon Dr. Ary Krau breaks down four important things you need to know before undergoing the procedure.
The name “breast lift” may make the procedure sound simple and straightforward, however, beautiful results require the skill and expertise of a board certified plastic surgeon. An experienced plastic surgeon is trained and skilled in the latest surgical techniques in order to produce beautiful, natural-looking results. Your breast lift surgeon should have years of experience performing breast lift surgeries and knows how to handle any possible complications that may arise during surgery.
Some Scarring Is to be Expected
Breast lift surgery leaves some degree of scarring, but a skilled plastic surgeon knows how to minimize them. Dr. Krau is well known for his superior breast lift incision technique that results in beautiful results and less scarring. During the procedure, Dr. Krau makes an incision around the nipple and areola (called the periareolar incision) and a vertical incision extending from the bottom of the areola to the natural breast crease line. He does not make the additional horizontal incision many other surgeons make during breast lift. The result is less scarring and faster healing.
Don’t Rush the Recovery Process
It is normal to want to show off your perkier breasts immediately after surgery, however be advised you will need plenty of rest before resuming normal activities. You will need to avoid vigorous activity, including exercising and lifting heavy objects, for the first two weeks during your recovery from breast lift surgery. Getting plenty of bed rest allows your breasts to heal as quickly and successfully as possible.
The Final Results Are Not Immediate
While you will notice a change in the position of your breasts right after surgery, keep in mind it may take several months for them to settle into their final position. Additionally, you may experience swelling for the first few weeks after surgery. This will gradually dissipate over the following months. During this time, Dr. Krau will be available to answer all of your questions and concerns. He can also offer several tips on how to improve your recovery.
